Two friends sit at a table, an empty glass laced with the memory of the first delicious brew in front of each. The waitress, smiling, comes by and replaces the glasses with another round. Maybe it’s the same beer, maybe the next one down the wish list. The friends toast, drink, and continue their musings, perhaps pausing to reflect on their current beer selection.
What better image of friendship and camaraderie? Does anything bring people together quite like beer? Sure, it’s a delicious beverage that mankind has been imbibing for centuries, but isn’t it so much more?
We have ridden the wave of craft beer ever since we became of legal age (not before, Mom and Dad, we promise!). Even then, the options were overwhelming and infinitely exciting. Now, the wave has become a veritable tsunami, and we’re still hanging ten and loving every minute.
A couple of years ago, we both decided to pour a pint into the wave and start brewing ourselves. As one might expect, our interest in beer quickly turned into a deep respect and fascination. All of the subtleties that make great beer great come from an understanding and appreciation of the astoundingly simple, yet beautifully complex, way in which it is made.
So, that’s what we want to do here: share our love and passion for beer with whoever wants to read. whether you’re a brewer for one of the big craft breweries and know everything there is to know, or you only really know about the beers that sponsor the superbowl and want to know more, we hope our experiences, insights, and misadventures will be entertaining and encouraging in your pursuit of great beer.
We are just two friends, clinking glasses across 300 miles of I-95, via the wonderful, virtual table we all know as the internet. We hope you’ll pull up a chair and raise a glass with us to great beer.
